We’re proud to announce that we’ve raised £3 million for Cancer Research UK through employee donations

Driven by Charity Champions right across the country, our people have been passionately raising money through all sorts of initiatives from bake sales and tombolas, sports matches and marathons, to donation stations and payroll giving.

Since 2015, our people have been passionately raising money for CRUK through all sorts of initiatives from bake sales and tombolas, hikes, bikes, swims and marathons, to donation stations and through payroll giving.

Our partnership began with the aim of raising £300,000 over four years to match a donation made by the Warburton family. But our people certainly rose to challenge smashing this target in just two years…and so the fundraising didn’t stop there. Fundraising activities continued up and down the country across our 28 sites and we are really proud that together we have raised a whopping £3 million!

But…we aren’t done yet. We’re committed to continuing our support for CRUK and have extended the partnership by another 3-years, with a fundraising target of £4 million! We look forward to continuing to raise money for this great cause and to help keep families together across the country.

Jonathan Warburton, Chairman said: “Cancer touches so many families, and at Warburtons, family is at the heart of everything we do, so we are delighted to be supporting Cancer Research UK. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and energy that our people have put into raising this incredible amount of money for such a worthy cause.”

The partnership forms part of our community programme, The Warburtons Foundation which aims to support people who need it the most through various ways including financial giving, product donation, and educational support.

Cancer Research UK, chief executive, Michelle Mitchell: “A huge thank you and congratulations to everyone at Warburtons for raising an incredible £3 million. Your support and dedication throughout the partnership has been truly wonderful and I hope you all feel enormously proud of the difference your fundraising efforts are making for cancer patients.

Since our partnership started, your support has enabled us to make faster progress towards our vision of a world where people can live longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer. We’ve made improvements in our understanding of immunotherapies and why some tumours respond better than others, pioneered research to help detect and treat cancer earlier, and helped improve survival outcomes for cancer patients. Together we are beating cancer.”
