Veronica Lomax

Senior Accounts Assistant

I work in purchase ledger, which involves processing invoices and credits on time for payment. I also deal with query calls from vendors and bakeries, I sort out these queries in time to ensure vendors are paid and share my skills and knowledge with other members of my team.

It’s important that I work quickly but accurately, as there are deadlines that have to be met on a weekly basis. It helps having a calm disposition as we occasionally have to deal with some challenging people. I also deputise for a small team of people in my supervisor’s absence. I enjoy the variation of tasks being carried out from day to day. Certain days you can be processing high volume of invoices with little or no interruption, the next day you can be dealing with none stop queries. Being part of a team is great because we always pull together to help each other - you never feel you are on your own if you have a problem.

Before I joined Warburtons I was previously employed with a similar family company for twenty-four years and was made redundant. I don’t mind saying I was terrified at the prospect of working for another company. When I started at Warburtons I immediately felt at ‘home’. Everyone is really friendly and I was made to feel welcome from day one. The training and support are excellent and there is always encouragement if you wish to improve your skills and knowledge. I know this is the company I want to stay with until I retire.
