WE GO TO GREAT LENGTHS to deliver the freshest, best tasting and highest quality products. Unlike most bakers, we don’t simply buy flour. Instead we have hundreds of farmers growing our own wheat. We work with experts who are the best in their field, our partners, to ensure consistent quality without compromise every step of the way, from seed to crumb.

We work with seed experts to ensure we only use the best seeds to grow our wheat.

Planting

Like Warburtons, many of our wheat farmers are family run businesses, dedicated to producing a quality product. We are proud of our long-standing relationships with farmers both in Canada and the UK

Technicians

Our expert technicians liase between Warburtons and our farmers, overseeing more rigorous tests throughout the wheat growing season to maintain our high quality standards.

Only the finest kernels of our selected wheat varieties make the grade. Those that do, produce an unrivalled quality, which can only be tasted in a loaf of Warburtons bread.

Milling

Our wheat is carefully transported to millers around the UK, many of which are also family businesses and are local to our bakeries, and after further quality checks the wheat is expertly milled into flour

Baking

For us baking is much more than just the process of baking bread; it is a blend of craft and science. Because our flour is strong, we put lots of energy into mixing and kneading our dough to make it more elastic, to create the perfect soft loaf.

Testing

We test for softability, toastability and butterability. It’s not proper English, but it’s certainly proper bread-making. Every single loaf coming out of our ovens is baked to the standards for which our bread is famous. You can be sure we’ll come down hard on bread that’s not soft enough.

Delivery

Every day across the UK, Warburtons bakeries are busy baking hundreds of thousands of loaves to feed the nation. To help ensure that our bread is delivered as fresh as it can be, We have bakeries all over England, Scotland and Wales.

We hope you enjoy our illustrations. They are mainly for fun and shouldn't be taken as realistic representations of the exact detail of the complex wheat growing, harvesting, milling and baking process. But, hopefully they do give you an entertaining introduction to the Warburtons story, from seed to crumb.
