Bread for a Healthy Life

Bread forms a staple part of the British diet and contains many of the nutrients required for normal development and good health. We all have our favourite kinds and should remember that bread can be an important contribution to a healthy diet, as long as we are careful about what we spread on it.

Fibre

Bread, especially wholemeal, is an important source of dietary fibre. Three slices of Warburtons large Wholemeal Medium provides nearly one third of an adult's daily requirement (24g). Fibre helps keep your digestive system healthy, helps control your blood sugar levels and blood cholesterol levels and makes you feel fuller for longer so you are less likely to snack when eaten as part of a healthy balanced diet.

Protein

Bread is generally a low fat source of protein. Protein is needed by our bodies for growth, renewal and repair such as wound healing.
