Warburtons Bread is Not High in Salt

Warburtons is a responsible family baker and is committed to providing the best quality, freshest and nutritionally balanced products to consumers on a daily basis.

Salt is a critical part of the bread making process as it controls fermentation and Warburtons has been working hard for a number of years to reduce the amount of salt in bread and have already met the targets set by the Foods Standards agency for 2010.

We are pleased that the business has reduced the level of salt in Warburtons products, through continuous recipe improvements, significant investment in the bread making process and the dedication of our technical and manufacturing teams.

Warburtons are committed to continuing our salt reduction journey, whilst meeting consumers’ expectations on taste.

Bread is a valuable source of carbohydrate and low fat protein. Government guidelines recommend that starchy foods such as bread should make up one third of consumers’ daily calorie intake and that bread should be eaten as part of a healthy balanced diet.

Comparing percentages of salt in different foods can be confusing. The salt content in Warburtons bread is on average half a gram per slice.

All Warburtons products have the salt content printed on the packaging and details can also be found on this site or for further information please call our Customer Care line on 0800 243684.
