Delivery and Logistics
When Henry Warburton took over the small bakery shop on Blackburn Road, Bolton, he was all too aware of the importance of service – not just over the counter, but actually delivering fresh bread to his customer’s door steps.
The importance of delivering on time to more people was not highlighted when Henry took on his first employee – not another baker, but someone to take horse drawn deliveries further a field. Brother–in–law Walt Pendlebury took up the challenge and Henry’s reputation for making the fastest bread widely available was born.
Warburtons has grown from one bakery
to 13 bakeries and 11 depots all in
locations ranging from Bellshill in
Scotland to Wednesbury in the Midlands
and Enfield in North London via our
centre office in Bolton, Lancashire.
Today
over 800 vehicles in the Warburtons fleet deliver
daily bread and morning goods to over 14,000 customers
each week – that’s just over two million Warburtons
bakery products every day.
Each bakery or depot also has its own cleaning team responsible for steam cleaning between 50 and 160 vehicles.
