Q. Someone in my family has become a vegetarian  - is Warburtons bread suitable for vegetarians?
A.   Most of our products are ideal for vegetarians For more information on vegetarianism, have a look at the Vegetarian Society website and our Product Nutrition section.
 
Q.   Are your products suitable for vegans?
A.   Yes - we believe most of our products are suitable for vegans, find out details on the following products:

Q.

Are your products suitable for people with diabetes?

A.  

Yes. Diabetes UK tells us that all bread is good for diabetics (it’s low in sugar and fat, and high in complex carbohydrates). The ingredients panel on the packaging tells you the sugar levels in all of our products to help you to manage your intake. I'm watching my weight by watching my fat intake - what's the fat content in bread?

A.  

Bread is a low fat food (it typically contains around two percent fat). You'll find the details printed on the ingredients panel on the packaging of all our breads.

Why do we need fibre?

A.  

We need fibre to keep our digestion system healthy and bread is a hugely important source of fibre.

 
Q.  

What is folic acid?

A.   

Folic acid is essential for growing cells and for healthy blood. Bread is a natural source of folic acid.

 
Q.  

How many slices of bread should I eat each day?

A.  

Dieticians recommend that we eat around six slices of bread each day.

Storage FAQs

Q.

Should I keep my bread in the fridge?

A.  

No Bread shouldn't be stored in a fridge as this makes bread go stale faster - we recommend you store it in a cool dark place (a bread bin is ideal).

How long can I freeze bread for?

A.   

Bread can be frozen for up to three months, as long as it's frozen on the day of purchase.

Are any of your products yeast free?

A.

Yes - Warburtons Potato Cakes and Pancakes do not contain yeast.

 
Q.

Do any of your products contain genetically modified ingredients?

A.

No. We pride ourselves on using natural, wholesome ingredients and take great care to ensure they are not genetically modified.

 
Q.

Do any of your products contain hydrogenated fats?

A.

No - we don't use any hydrogenated fats in any of our products.

 
Q.

What is calcium propionate?

A.

An ingredient used to inhibit mould growth, so improving the keeping qualities of our products.

 
Q.

Why do you use salt in your bread?

A.

Salt is needed in breadmaking to help improve product texture, add flavour and help enhance its keeping qualities.

 
Q.

Which vitamins are in bread?

A.

There are lots of vitamins in bread, mainly the B vitamins such as: Thiamine, Niacin and folic acid. Click here for more information about vitamins in bread.

Which breads have the most fibre?

A.  

Wholemeal. Warburtons All in One has extra fibre, too.

Where does your flour come from?

A.

Flour is milled from wheat. Most of the wheat we use is from Canada as, we believe, this provides the highest quality flour for use in breadmaking.

 
Q.

Which type of bread has more folic acid?

A.

Folic acid is naturally present in bread. However, more is found in wholemeal breads. More information about folic acid is available here.

 
Q.

Like lots of people today, I'd rather eat organic — do you produce Organic bread?

A.

Yes - we use the highest quality, organically grown ingredients from selected suppliers, and bake these breads at Soil Association accredited bakeries.

What is 'stoneground flour'?

A.  

'Stoneground' refers to how the flour is milled - this is a traditional method, usually associated with wholemeal breads, that gives bread a distinctive taste and texture. Our Wholemeal Batch loaf is made with stoneground flour.
