Bakers Born and Bred
This campaign is a return to Warburtons best loved and best known ads, which featured members of the Warburton family. We are proud to be a family business, owned and actively run by the fifth generation of the Warburton family.

This campaign features scenes seen through the eyes of Jonathan and Brett Warburton - although they are not actually seen in the ad themselves - an idea that was inspired by the film Being John Malcovich. The voice-overs are spoken by the real Jonathan and Brett Warburton and encourage viewers to contact them by email with any new ideas or just their thoughts about Warburtons.

We open watching the cinema through Jonathan Warburton's eyes. We're eating popcorn and we can hear it crunching in our head. Suddenly we get a tap on the shoulder and we turn round to see a guy sat with his four kids;
GUY: whispering Excuse me, but aren't you Jonathan Warburton?
GUY: I knew it was you. Saw you on those poster adverts at Bolton bus station. Look kids! Jonathan Warburton!
JONATHAN: Hi kids.
Our guy leans in towards the camera and offloads an idea;
GUY: Hey, listen: idea. What you wanna do is, you wanna do a family sized loaf, a massive one that's two foot long, and thick cut, you could do the whole range in family sized! Football teams would buy it too... the football team loaf... the school choir loaf...
As he gets more animated and excited, someone ‘shushes' him up.
GUY: apologetically Sorry...
JONATHAN: whispers politely Yeah, ok, fine, great.
He quietly sits back in his chair and does the ‘I'll call you' hand signal to us (Jonathan).
We go back to the film, and we turn to the woman sitting next to us, to apologise.
JONATHAN: Sorry about that
However, she too is staring at him excitedly,
WOMAN: whispers Are you Jonathan Warburton?
JONATHAN: Ahhh...

We open looking through Brett Warburton's eyes, as he waits to use an ATM machine. It's a grey and rainy day in Bolton. He's also behind a bloke who's using the ATM. He turns round and spots us.
BLOKE: Alright...
BRETT: Yeah, fine.
BLOKE: he registers who we are... hey, aren't you that Warburtons Bread chap?
BRETT: politely Yeah, one of them.
BLOKE: friendly Still live round here do you?
BRETT: Not far.
The bloke looks up to the sky, it's raining harder.
BLOKE: Tell you what, ever thought about just swanning off to the Caribbean...
BRETT: Nah, Bolton lad.
BLOKE: ...buying a massive yacht...(he starts fantasizing)...drink cocktails on the beach all day, sexy girls, live a little!
He does a little hula dance.
BLOKE: Out of cash
BRETT: Oh dear.
The ATM machine bleeps, the bloke sighs. We see the screen flash - 'out of £10 & £20 notes unable to dispense cash'
BLOKE: Well, I'll be... he pauses, turns round to make a deliberately bad joke... ... looks like there's no BREAD... he labours the joke... for anyone today Mr Warburton? No bread...
BRETT: No bread, yes, very good. Ah.
The bloke chuckles loudly, chuffed with his terrible joke. As he wanders off, still chuckling to himself. Brett pulls up his collar and wanders home in the pouring Bolton rain.

We open on Jonathan's (our) feet strolling across a country path in the Lake District. It's a glorious day and we're out for an afternoon walk with our trusty dog in tow. As we look out across the beautiful scenery, the idyllic moment is interrupted by a couple of lady ramblers. They come marching over to us excitedly;
JONATHAN: Arthur, Arthur! Morning, er, morning.
RAMBLER 1: Excuse us, aren't you Derrick Warburton's lad?
JONATHAN: I am, yeah.
RAMBLER 1: Thought so. We knew your Dad.
RAMBER 2: He was a good looking fella...
JONATHAN: My mum thinks so...
RAMBLER 1: D'you still bake that lovely Milk Roll?
JONATHAN: Yes.
Rambler 2 cuts in over Jonathan.
RAMBLER 2: He won't know.
RAMBLER 1: No, probably not. He probably does all his baking on a laptop.
JONATHAN: chuckles No, I'm still very much...
They just talk over him.
RAMBLER 2: It's all new fangled ways now.
RAMBLER 1: It's not like it was, when men did stuff with their hands
JONATHAN: Actually...
RAMBLER 2: You're not wrong there... that reminds me, did I tell you about our Alan's new job...
RAMBLER 1: Ohhh I remember... That reminds me, did I tell you about our Alan's new job...
JONATHAN: Right then, bye...
They've heard enough from Jonathan and head off deep in conversation. Jonathan sighs and wanders after his dog.
